The Electron was created by one of New Zealand's most respected yacht designers, Des Townson, and has generated a loyal following of owners who enjoy the thrill of competing in a one design class where
skill and experience rather than the cost of equipment matters.
Electrons are owned and sailed by many leading sailors who
appreciate the fine sailing qualities of these models.
On Des's death, the manufacturer and support of the Electron
was taken over by model builder Bruce Tantrum.
In 2018 this was passed onto Greg Stenbeck and
