All new Boom Vang Released
After many months of various trial designs, Electron Licensed Builder Greg Stenbeck has just released the new boom vang set up for the Electron.
The previous boom vang, which had been used for many years, had a tendency for the string to chaff and break at the mast and the small acrylic “bowsie” could be difficult to adjust and remain in the desired position, especially as wind strength increased or the string got wet.
The new design features a plastic-coated stainless-steel wire section into the mast and a 3D printed plastic slide fitted onto the boom.
The boom vang tension is adjusted simply adjusted by sliding the slide along the boom. Trials in varying wind strengths have shown the slide does not move and a consistent tension can be maintained through a race or regatta as required.
The new boom vang is available now for $25 which includes fitting.
